SCIENCE got a boost at a Greenock school, thanks to a community programme operated by Amazon.

The Gourock plant donated £1,000 to Notre Dame High to buy new equipment and help develop skills in science, technology, engineering and maths.

Amazon’s local general manager, Gavin Morrison, visited the school to take part in a science fair with the pupils. He said:

“Science, technology, engineering and maths are some of the core skills used in a multitude of careers today, including those at Amazon.

“We’re really passionate about encouraging young people to consider a future career in these disciplines, and, when the opportunity came up to support such a great local school with a donation, we jumped at the chance.”

Notre Dame head teacher, Kate Couttie, says her students love taking part in British Science Week.

She said: “We use this opportunity to involve pupils in lunchtime challenge activities.

“We’re always keen to make learning exciting for our students, so we’re grateful to Amazon for helping us out with this fantastic donation.

“I’d like to say a big thanks to Gavin and his team from Amazon for their support.”
