PROPERTY prices in Inverclyde have fallen by more than £5,000 in a year – the second highest drop in the country.
Latest figures from the UK House Price Index revealed the average cost of a home locally in February this year was £96,918 compared with £102,308 12 months ago.
That is a fall of £5,390 – or 5.3 per cent.
Inverclyde recorded the biggest price drop of all 32 local authority areas in Scotland, just behind the City of Aberdeen, where the average cost of a house dipped by almost 10 per cent to £161,199.
The national figure rose by 3.1 per cent to just under £139,000.
The UK average also shot up by 5.8 per cent to £217,502 year on year.
