A DYNAMIC duo of super slimmers are throwing themselves into their next challenge.

Lisa McNellis and Susan Nichol are Slimming World consultants who are taking part in the Pretty Muddy Glasgow 5K event tomorrow.

The pair — who inspire clients to lose weight every week — are gearing up for a messy obstacle race in aid of Cancer Research.

Lisa, 44, who runs her classes at Inverkip Community Hub on Thursdays, said: “A group of consultants are taking part, there are three of us from Inverclyde as Stephanie Campbell will be joining us on the day.

“Sadly none of us have been untouched by cancer.

“Over the years I’ve lost my mother-in-law, Mary McNellis, and my brother Jim Dornan and I will be running for them.”

Lisa became a poster girl for the local slimming club last year after shedding five and a half stones and dropping from a dress size 20 to a trim 10/12.

She said: “Before I lost weight I would have never contemplated this.

“I’ve done a zipslide and now this is a different type of challenge.

“We just wanted to push ourselves — it’s a team effort.”

Mum-of-three Susan, who is a childminder by day and slimming consultant at night, is looking forward to the race.

Susan, 40, of Gourock, said: “There will be obstacles and nets and loads of muck and at the end there is an inflatable slide that goes into a pool of mud.

“We’ll need plenty of changes of clothing!

“I’ve never done anything like this before but I thought would because this is a brilliant cause.”

Susan, who runs her sessions at Kirn Drive Community Centre in Gourock on Wednesday, says she will be thinking of her sister-in-law Marie Coyle, who is battling cancer in Australia.

The cross-country race is being held at Bellahouston Park and if anyone wants to support the girls with sponsorship they should visit fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/lisas-fundraising-page-1968 or https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/susans-fundraising-page-1084
