GREENOCK-born gridiron great Lawrence Tynes is the toast of New York after kicking his side to Super Bowl glory once again.
Lawrence hit two vital field goals to help the New York Giants to a dramatic victory in American Football's showpiece clash in the early hours of this morning. The Giants ran out 21-17 winners against New England Patriots in Indianapolis after coming from behind to secure a last-gasp touchdown and take the coveted trophy.
And 33-year-old Lawrence, who was cheered by his relatives in Port Glasgow, was instrumental in the famous win after kicking two field goals to keep his side in the game before the Giants snatched victory.
Lawrence was born here but emigrated to the States with his family as a youngster.
He shot to fame in 2008 as the first Scot to win the Super Bowl and now has another title to add to his collection.
The kicker was born in Greenock while his father, a US Navy Seal, was based in Scotland, and has kept close links with his roots in Inverclyde.
Lawrence is a big follower of British sport and a keen Celtic supporter.
Last week the Tele told how the SFA had showed its support to the Scots-born star by sending a Scotland strip for him to wear during the pre-match media interviews last week.
