SPECIAL guests helped make a Greenock nursery's first birthday even more memorable.

Enchanted Forest Nursery in Greenock had a fun day recently to celebrate one year since it opened.

As part of the event, guests including Peppa Pig and Fireman Sam dropped in to give the excited young children a big surprise as they joined in the celebrations.

The children also got a visit from staff at the local fire station and were given the chance to use the hose and climb aboard the fire engine.

Policeman Stuart Horsburgh also arrived in uniform on his day off with his traffic car and allowed the children to ask questions and investigate all the sirens - which caused great fun.

Meanwhile children, parents and staff were also given the opportunity to throw wet sponges at nursery nurse Lindsay McLellan and nursery manager Margaret Mack who braved many a wet sponge to raise money for Cash for Kids.

The nursery staff also had craft stalls, nail painting, face painting and raffles to raise money for the charity.

Manager Margaret Mack said: "We are delighted to announce we raised a whopping 567.80 at the fun day.

"So far Enchanted Forest Nursery Greenock have raised 982.80 this year for our chosen charity and we would like to say a huge thank you to all our parents, friends and families for their continued support."
