A MAGNIFICENT seven group of fundraising friends are preparing to trek from Glasgow to Loch Lomond in KILTS to raise cash for causes close to their hearts.

Michelle Hamil and her band of family and friends will walk a 23-mile route this Sunday as the ‘Kilted Terrors’ in aid of six separate charities.

The Greenockians will be among 6,000 volunteers taking part in the 2014 Kiltwalk, which aims to raise £1.5m for deserving children in Scotland.

Michelle — who took part in last year’s event with her sister Alexandria — told how she stepped up her local cash drive by roping in her mum, Kathleen, and others.

She said: “We want to raise as much as we can and we’re working as hard as possible to get donations and sponsorship from local people.

“The Kiltwalk is a great event and something we can all do — and the friendship, atmosphere and feelgood factor about it is just brilliant.” The ‘Terrors’ — Michelle, mum Kathleen, sister Alexandria, brother Craig, and friends Gillian Logue, June Bellingham and Marian Oswald — will be walking from Glasgow’s SECC Hydro to Loch Lomond.

They’re raising money for Reach for Autism Inverclyde, Yorkhill Hospital, CLIC Sargent, CHAS, the Tartan Army Children’s Charity and Aberlour Childcare Trust.

Michelle said: “All of the causes have a special place in our hearts and we want to raise at least £1,000 between us.

“I have a friend who worked at Yorkhill so it’s an important one to me and we have pals who have had a lot of dealings with the hospital. We also know people who have children with difficulties such as autism, so we just want to do the very best we can for them.” The girls have been in training for the long walk and Michelle says her feet have taken a battering but she’ll be ready to go.

She told the Tele: “Everyone is really looking forward to the day — and hoping we get some decent weather into the bargain!

“I did a 22-mile training walk the other day and the blisters on my feet are something else, I just hope they’re gone in time for the Kiltwalk itself.” If you want to support the Kilted Terrors just log on to their donation page at — http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/kiltedterrors
