The news broke this morning when staff were summoned to a meeting by management.
The workers then went straight into a meeting with unions.
The Tele understands that accountants KPMG have been drafted in to try and find a buyer.
No comment was available from Ferguson's this morning.
But Port man Alex Logan, GMB shop steward, said: "All the workforce were called into a meeting.
"The company went into receivership last night.
"All staff have been made redundant.
"It's shocking at how this has happened in this day and age."
