FRESHLY grown produce is going from the playground to the plate at Aileymill Primary.
The school is building upon its gardening success as a base for the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) to teach gardening skills.
Its outdoor growing space is being extended and improved as part of the society’s Campaign for School Gardening.
Angela Smith, RHS development officer for Scotland, popped down to make plans for the new school term.
She said: “Aileymill Primary is a host school for the RHS. They sow it, they grow it and eat it along with Education Scotland guidelines.
“In spring, pupils and staff prepared the ground and raised beds and have been growing throughout the spring and summer.
“It includes onions, garlic, leeks and a variety of salads.”
