A HOST of star names are backing a campaign to save a Greenock high school — as the final few scenes of BBC drama Waterloo Road are filmed.
Cast including Angus Deayton, Laurie Brett, Melanie Hill and Georgie Glen, all pictured, were stood underneath a ‘save our school’ banner at the former Greenock Academy building on Madeira Street.
Unfortunately the campaign is in vain as the school will close its doors after the BBC pulled the plug on the long-running programme earlier this year.
Filming is expected to come to an end on Friday.
Many of the cast and crew have taken to Twitter to express sadness at shooting their final scenes in Greenock. But the show will still be on screen until next year as the final instalment of the current series is played out before the last episodes are shown.
