EASTENDERS enjoyed a fabulous family fun day at Auchmountain Resource Centre.

This is the second year the community event has been held and it once again proved a great success.

Organisers say there was a good turnout from families and children who took part in the summer programmes at the centre.

Young people were spoiled for choice went it came to entertainment, with arts and crafts, facepainting and a bouncy castle.

The afternoon ended on a high with a super show by magician/comedian Gary Dunn.

Candyfloss and popcorn stalls did a roaring trade and there was a special guest appearance from Pudsey Bear, as the youth clubs run at the centre are funded by Children In Need.

Pudsey was joined by Woo the Panda, Inverclyde Council’s youth work services mascot.

Paul Ross, a youth worker with the council, said: “It was a fantastic family fun atmosphere and everyone was so excited to take part in it, and the entertainer Gary at the end had everyone in fits of laughter.

“It was held at the end of the summer programme and it allowed families to see all the work the young people have done.

“This was captured by a presentation of what they had been doing.

“One of the projects was decorating a garden at the centre by planting new bedding plants.” The day was also a chance to open up the centre to new people and showcase the classes that run there.

Paul said: “I think these events are very important and show the effectiveness of having a centre and the courses that run in it.

“The day showed the opportunities open to young people and hopefully it will attract adults to learn new skills.”
