A GIANT Scotsman visited Greenock yesterday in a bid to encourage people to vote Yes in the independence referendum to get rid of nuclear weapons.
Big Sandy is described as ‘Scottish CND’s secret weapon’ in the campaign and has been touring the country.
He visited the Yes Inverclyde campaign shop in Cathcart Street before going on a towering walk around the town centre.
John Ainslie, co-ordinator of the Scottish Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, said: “If success in the independence referendum is judged by how many people you can make smile, then the Yes campaign is miles ahead thanks to Big Sandy. “With a Yes vote Scotland can stand tall in the world and get rid of nuclear weapons.”
