A GREENOCK man has appeared in court on an attempted murder charge after a man was injured at a high rise block of flats in the town.
Andrew McKechnie, 27, is accused of trying to kill a male at Prospecthill Court on Friday afternoon.
Detectives are now hunting a second man in connection with the incident.
The Tele reported on Monday that a 23-year-old man had been rushed to Inverclyde Royal Hospital following an incident at the flats, on Ann Street, at around 5pm on Friday.
At that time detectives believed that two or three men had allegedly set upon the man.
McKechnie appeared in private on petition at Greenock Sheriff Court, represented by solicitor David Tod.
He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.
The case has been continued for examination and he is due back in court next week.
Greenock CID today confirmed they are following a ‘positive line of inquiry’ in their bid to trace another male in connection with the incident.
Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 101 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
