Local authority staff were out in force trying to clear the streets of surface water and a team battled through the deluge, below, in Cumberland Road, Larkfield.
Police also shut off a part of the busy A8 artery through Inverclyde and diverted drivers up Ratho Street.
It came after a huge early morning downpour flooded the district causing major disruption on the roads and railway network.
