The incident happened just before 8.30am on Nelson Street at its junction with Brisbane Street.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and a male and a female were treated before being taken to hospital.
Sergeant Allan O’Hare of Greenock police said “Two people, a male and a female, were hit by a taxi and an ambulance crew attended.
“Both were conscious and breathing and had cuts to their heads and body.” The road was closed while investigations were carried out, but reopened later.
No further information on the condition of the casualties is available at this time.
