FILM star Martin Compston has revealed he is to star in a Hollywood action movie — but says he is just as proud of recently helping to raise a fortune for Ardgowan Hospice.

In an exclusive interview with the Telegraph, the 30-year-old actor says that about £10,000 was raised at the charity music gig he arranged in Greenock last month.

The proud hospice patron who is looking forward to my busy year of acting commitments, described the recent gig, which saw his friends The View play a storming set at the town hall, as ‘one of the best nights of my life’.

Martin said: “When The View came on it was amazing, the whole place erupted.

“I think it’s the only time you’ll see a mosh pit at a hospice event!

“I can’t thank everyone enough for coming out and helping such a good cause and I want to give special thanks to Andrew McDermid, Ian Dyer from Inverclyde Leisure and Tony Buckley.

“I’m hoping to do it as an annual event.” Martin also spoke of his excitement about starring in The Hunter’s Prayer — an action thriller by Terminator 3 director Jonathan Mostow.

He said: “I’ve had a hectic few weeks — I was out in Hungary filming The Hunter’s Prayer.

“It’s a big assassin film so we’ve been filming big shoot outs in train stations in Budapest.

“It was also great to work with Sam Worthington who starred in Avatar — he’s a great big fella.” The hard working star is due to start filming in Northern Ireland for the third series of acclaimed BBC police drama Line of Duty.

He said: “I’ll be filming in Belfast for four months and I’m looking forward to it.” Before filming begins, Martin is jetting over to Los Angeles to spend time with his stunning American girlfriend Tianna Flynn.

He added: “I’m going over to see Tianna for a couple of months, which will be great.

“She spent the summer over here and also came over for the gig last month which was nice, as all my friends and family were in the one place.” Martin is also lending his support to another town hall hospice benefit gig being headlined by top tribute act The Complete Stone Roses, with support from local band The Soviets.

He said: “I want to wish The Complete Stone Roses and The Soviets all the best for their gig.

“The Soviets are a cracking local band and I’m sure it’ll be another brilliant night to raise money for the hospice.”
