THIRTY staff at a Greenock housing association had their blood pressure checked as part of a stroke awareness initiative.
The employees at Oak Tree Housing Association took part in stroke awareness sessions and had their blood pressure checked at the event run by the Stroke Association.
Anne Culley, group depute director at Oak Tree Housing Association, thanked the charity for organising the event.
She said: “When our Health Promotion Working Group learnt about the Stroke Association’s blood pressure events, it made us realise how important it is for us to ensure our colleagues can understand the causes and signs of a stroke for their benefit and the benefit of those we come into contact with.” Jen Stanley of the Stroke Association said high blood pressure is an important risk factor in strokes.
She said: “We are delighted that Oak Tree Housing Association is supporting this very important cause and we hope those who got involved found the event educational and that it allowed people to take an interest in their own health and the health of others.”
