SPREAD betting is on the rise in Inverclyde – thanks to the close-run general election campaign locally.
Bookmaker Spreadex say there has been a surge of interest in the local constituency, which it has listed the area among its key 100 marginal seats.
Company spokesman Andy MacKenzie said: “The indications from our traders are that this is one of the most tightly-contested elections for many years and the outcome of the Inverclyde constituency could be key to the overall result.
“Already we’ve had bets totalling hundreds of thousands of pounds of exposure placed on the final result and we expect that to increase in the coming weeks.”
