A GROUP of friends hit the fairways at four different courses in just one day — in memory of a little boy who died in tragic circumstance.

Inspirational Gourock parents Robert and Nicola Clark have now raised a staggering £47,000 on behalf of their late son Euan.

The couple have thrown themselves into charity work in aid of Yorkhill Children’s Hospital ever since losing their baby boy at just 18 months old.

They set up Euan’s Cause after their son passed away while waiting for a heart transplant in 2012.

Their latest charity event, a ‘Golf’s Longest Day’ challenge raised £14,000 for the fund thanks to sponsorship and an auction.

Robert, 34, was one of a team of eight players who completed rounds at four different courses, starting off at dawn in West Kilbride, then heading on to Kelburn and Routenburn in Largs before finishing the day at Gourock Golf Club.

Robert, pictured above third from right, told the Telegraph: “It was great fun — there was me and seven of my closest friends and we dragged each other round the courses. It was a long day.” The couple, who live in Ailsa Road and have a one-year-old son – Lyle, hope that their exploits can help other families avoid the pain they have suffered. Robert, who works in Cigna’s IT department, said: “Fundaising is really the only thing we can do.

“We’ve been through hell and we want to raise as much money as we can so no other parent has to go through what we’ve been through. We wanted to give something back to the support staff, doctors, nurses and carers to thank then for what they did when Euan was alive. We’ve done lots of activities, we have an annual football tournament in August and Tough Mudder and just want to help people in the same situation.

“Euan’s legacy is living through these events.” l You can donate to the Euan’s Cause appeal fund by visiting www.justgiving.com/remember/20303/Euan-Clark
