A TOP floor flat in Port Glasgow was set on fire — sparking a massive emergency operation.
Fire crews rushed to Wilson Street at around 10pm on Sunday night after neighbours reported a blaze.
There was no-one inside at the time the fire started.
A total of four fire engines from Port Glasgow and Greenock were called to the scene. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus fought through the flames to extinguish the blaze using hose reel jets.
Police and fire officers remained at the address yesterday to make sure it was safe.
A 51-year-old man is due to appear in court accused of wilful fireraising following the incident.
