MORE than a dozen new houses are to be built to complete a redevelopment in Port Glasgow’s Woodhall area.

River Clyde Homes (RCH) said a total of 18 homes would be provided to complete the fourth and final phase of the project.

It brings the number of new homes announced by RCH this year to 128, with a total investment of £27 million.

RCH director Gary Wilson said: “Our plans for the final phase at Woodhall come on top of our recent announcements of 90 new homes in Slaemuir and 20 in the Mallard area of Greenock.”

The social landlord has also revealed a new partnership arrangement for several key projects.

Mr Wilson said: “Given the scale of our plans, it made sense to seek a project manager and main contractor to work across developments.

“We will be working with Turner & Townsend and Cruden Homes on all of the new build projects we have announced this year.

“This will allow us to work efficiently to deliver a consistent high standard in the new homes we are building across Inverclyde.”

Turner & Townsend, an independent professional services company, will take on project management of the new builds, while Scottish housebuilder Cruden will handle construction.

David Hogg, a director in Turner & Townsend’s Glasgow office, says they are looking forward to building homes in Inverclyde that represent value for money.

Allan Callaghan, managing director of Cruden Homes West, added: “These homes are being developed in close consultation with the River Clyde Homes’ technical and management teams to produce high quality, attractive and distinctive houses.

“Working together, we will deliver much needed modern housing, much of which will be ideal for family living with front and back gardens.

“Importantly, these highly energy efficient and well planned homes will allow residents to reap the benefits of lower fuel bills.”

Meanwhile 41 new RCH homes at Bay Street, Port Glasgow, are due to be completed in January.

RCH is planning to build a total of 750 new homes in five years under a major £100m programme, alongside continued investment in refurbishment and regeneration of existing properties.
