GREGGS have served up a treat with the opening of a new Port Glasgow cafe.

The food-on-the-go retailer has moved into the former Farmfoods unit in the heart of the town centre which had been empty for almost a decade.

It replaces the old Greggs shop just up the road, which first opened in 1986.

The new cafe, at the corner of Princes Street and Church Street, features 22 seats inside, an outdoor seating area for five people and it will be open seven days a week.

King’s Oak Primary pupils Jorja Rankin and Sophie Patton officially opened the cafe on Friday morning along with manager Stacey Coulter and supervisor Chris Burke.

Stacey said: “It looks great.

“It’s a big difference from the old shop, it’s night and day.”
Four extra staff have been taken on in the Port cafe with 20 new-starts in total employed by the company across Inverclyde.

Alex Rankin, area manager, said: “We’re repaying Inverclyde back a bit in terms of investing in the high street instead of looking to go away from the town centre.

“There’s a comprehensive seating option, customer toilets, wide open space for families with young children and we’re also now open on Sundays.

“Hopefully it caters for the needs of the people of Port Glasgow.”
