FIREFIGHTERS were called out to tackle a car fire in a Port Glasgow field.

Two fire engines from Port Glasgow and one from Greenock went to the scene of the blaze which happened in a field off Dougliehill Road at about 7.30am yesterday morning. 

The firefighters spent 45 minutes tackling the fire which occurred in a field just across from a derelict farm house.

Investigations are now ongoing to find out the cause of the fire which has completely destroyed the white car.

Sergeant Jason Logsdon from Greenock police is appealing for information.

He said: “A vehicle on fire was reported by fire and rescue at 7.30am. Enquiries are continuing to identify the cause of the blaze.”
