A PORT Glasgow man who suffered serious head injuries while overseas on work business in America has been named by U.S police as Robert Hurrell.

Police say the 34-year-old, who was found unconscious outside a bar in the town of Burlington in Vermont last Saturday morning, was assaulted.

He is currently being treated in hospital and remains in a stable condition.

Detectives had made an appeal for information over the ‘suspicious incident’ and launched a search for two men who were captured on CCTV with Mr Hurrell prior to the incident.

The Telegraph has been receiving updates on the case from Burlington Police and Burlington Free Press, the largest daily newspaper in Vermont.

Police say Mr Hurrell was in Vermont on ‘work-related business’.

A 21-year-old man from South Carolina has now been arrested followng the incident and is expected to appear in court next week. Detective Lieutenant Art Cyr of Burlington Police said: “After a thorough investigation it has been determined that the circumstances was in fact an assault.

“The victim sustained head injuries and was transported to Fletcher Allen Hospital the morning of the assault.

“He is currently still in the hospital in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.

“The suspect has been identified as McKeever Barrow, a 21-year-old South Carolina resident.

“Barrow has been cited to appear in court on Tuesday.”
