GLORIOUS sunshine made for perfect playing conditions at Inverkip Bowling Club’s open day.
Players and their families joined members of kindred clubs on the green for their first outdoor game of the season on Saturday.
Cheers came from the 60-strong crowd when Joan Hutchison, a friend of the club, officially opened the green.
The applause continued when club president Fiona McNeill’s mum Mhairi threw the prestigious first bowl.
Club secretary Willie Gibson, said it was an occasion to remember.
He said: “It was a really good day and it was well attended by kindred clubs.
“About 60 people came along with 40 people playing on the green while others were happy to watch.
“Afterwards we enjoyed tea and sandwiches and there was also a raffle.
“It was a great way to start the season.” The thriving club has 47 male and female members but is always looking for more.
Willie added: “We’ve had about three new members this year already.
“Anyone who would like to try out bowls can do so at a reduced price for their first year.” For more information about the club phone 521425 or go to their Facebook page.
