IN less than a week we have a fantastic opportunity to make Inverclyde and Scotland a better place for future generations.

Inverclyde has gained through devolution. Millions spent in new social house building, the council tax freeze, the awarding of the two hybrid ferries to Fergusons, Town Centre Regeneration Fund, regeneration investment, financial investment in new school facilities from the Scottish Government.

Bringing back the full range of powers to Scotland will allow us to make decisions for Scotland and by Scotland.

Dr Philippa Whitford, a breast cancer surgeon, said that a No vote would mean the end of the Scottish NHS within 10 years as a consequence of the privatisation taking place in the NHS in England. I want to ensure our NHS remains in public hands, not sold off.

I’m voting Yes to have a better future for my children and future generations. I’m voting Yes to protect things that are cherished to me such as our NHS.

I’m voting Yes to always get the government we vote for, to rid our waters of nuclear weapons and to begin truly tackling the issue of poverty and deprivation that exists. We need to raise the living standards of our fellow Scots.

That’s the type of country I know we can deliver and be proud of.

Nelson Mandela said, “May your choices reflect your hopes, not your fears.” I ask you to think of your hopes and aspirations next Thursday.
