YOU can’t keep Inverclyde out of TV dramas, with even pictures and paintings of the area getting on to the wee screen.

Scenes for the BBC’s Stonemouth — based on the novel of the same name by the late Gourock novelist Iain Banks — were filmed in the town, including at the outdoor pool.

And the producers went the extra mile by buying local artworks to use as props from The Pirate and the Bluebelle online art gallery’s ‘pop-up’ shop in Kempock Street.

Iain Banks, who, sadly passed away in June 2013, would have been delighted to know that the town he was brought up in is featuring so strongly in the production.

One of his last visits to Gourock was in October 2010 to open the town’s refurbished library. It was impressive to watch how the modest, world-famous writer spoke in such an unassuming way with many of the 200 fans who packed the room.

Hopefully, like Waterloo Road, the new production will encourage viewers to come and visit Inverclyde locations.

The Pirate and Bluebelle owners could also get a spin-off benefit from their artworks being shown on the telly.

Meanwhile, Greenock stuntman Craig Miller from Branchton is making a name for himself again on the silver screen by working with some of the biggest names in the film world, including Michael Caine and Colin Firth.

Good luck to the amiable martial arts man as he continues fighting his way through movies!
