LAST week, the Deputy First Minister John Swinney announced funding for the new Greenock Health and Care Centre.

The investment will give the people of Greenock and the surrounding areas access to modern, high quality health care facilities.

The announcement, which gave the green light to the project, is a further sign of the SNP’s commitment to the health service and also to Inverclyde.

ALLAN McGraw is not just a Morton legend, but also a decent and great man. I was therefore delighted to hear that the campaign to have him introduced into the SFAs Hall of Fame has been re-launched by his niece, who I would like to congratulate.

I am fully behind the campaign and this week I lodged a motion to the Scottish Parliament on it.

LAST Friday, alongside Ronnie Cowan MP, I visited Ferguson Marine.

It was a great visit and it was inspiring to hear of their plans for the future. Shipbuilding has played such an important part of Port Glasgow’s history, and I am confident it will continue to do so into the future.

THE parliament may be in recess, but my work in the area still goes on.

Over the summer I will be out and about visiting organisations and businesses and, as always, my office door is open and you will find my staff and myself ready to help anyone who requires assistance.

Additionally, my Monday morning telephone surgery will still take place every week between 10am and 11am on 720930.
