MORTON have announced the shortlist for their supporters’ competition in which fans were invited to design the team’s away kit for next season.

The club have narrowed the competition down to 12 options after a staggering 726 entries were completed and sent in for deliberation.

The final 12 is as follows: Pablo Senra (Ardgowan Primary), Lauren Leesing (Whinhill Primary), Kyle Nugent (Lady Alice Primary), Sophie Hudson (Whinhill Primary), David Curley (St Stephen’s High), Emily Milne (Whinhill Primary), Cameron Carson (Kilmacolm Primary), Zoe Ricketts (Whinhill Primary), Peter Fleming (online entries) and Ben Crawford (online entry).

All 10 successful candidates will now have their entries created graphically.

The next phase of the competition will involve Morton supporters voting on the graphic designs — much like the fans’ vote for this season’s current home strip — before the final four are developed into prototypes by Vision and displayed in Smiths of Greenock for fans to vote on.

Head of community coaching Brian McLaughlin said: “All at Morton in the Community have been overwhelmed by the response to our competition and can’t thank everyone enough for their support.

“726 entries was unbelievable, an array of unique and colourful entries, it was an almost impossible job of whittling down the entries to just 12.

“We now have a dozen worthy candidates that I’m sure the team would be proud to wear on their travels next season and I’m excited to see the winning design chosen by the Morton faithful.”

Entrants who made it to the final 12 have been asked to email admin@mortoncommunity.net to claim their prize — the current pin-stripe hoops jersey worn this season by the squad.
