MORTON playmaker Ross Forbes says he’s come to terms with the fact that he will miss what would have been one of the biggest games of his career.

The 27-year-old is banned for Saturday’s Betfred Cup semi-final against Aberdeen after picking up his second booking in the tournament near the end of the last eight victory over Dundee United.

Forbes says he felt he had no option but to commit the foul and has accepted that he will play no part at Hampden other than roaring on his team-mates.

He said: “It’s part and parcel of football.

“You know, if I didn’t take the booking against Dundee United, we might not have got there.

“At the time it was the right decision.

“These things happen and I’ve just got to get on with it.

“It’s not often Morton have been at this stage of the cup competitions, but I’m older now and can deal with something like this better.

“I’m sure the boys will give a good account of themselves and do well and I’ll be the cheering them on from the stands.”

Meanwhile, four Ton stars have edged themselves into contention for Saturday’s Hampden clash by coming through a development league match unscathed.

Lee Kilday, Ricki Lamie, Caolan McAleer and Kudus Oyenuga all featured in an away fixture against Queen of the South.

Captain Kilday has been out with an ankle problem, Lamie with a hamstring injury, McAleer with a knee complication and Oyenuga had a shoulder issue.

Queens opened the scoring before Thomas Orr levelled and Oyenuga gave his side the lead.

Scott Tiffoney struck the winner on 67 minutes after Queens’ had equalised.
