JAI Quitongo believes Morton have a lot to look forward to after acquitting themselves so well against top opposition at Hampden on Saturday.

The teenage striker is in upbeat mood despite the disappointment of narrowly losing to Aberdeen in the Betfred Cup semi-final which the team did so well to reach.

Quitongo was involved in a pivotal moment of the match when he burst through on goal only to be foiled by Dons’ keeper Joe Lewis, but he is already looking ahead instead of dwelling on the missed chance.

He said: “Sometimes you only get one chance in a game and I think I should have taken it.

“But you can’t dwell on it as a striker, we’ve got two hard games coming up — Ayr on Saturday and St Mirren on Tuesday.

“We have to look at those games and take the positives into them.

“I think we gave a good account of ourselves, we never really looked out of touch with Aberdeen.

“You could see, about an hour into the game, that their fans were starting to get on their back.”

After the excitement of this season’s league cup run, Quitongo admits that his Ton side have had a taste of success — and want more.

He told the Tele: “We’ve got a young squad, our average age is about 22.

“With that experience, everybody should want to go and kick on to have other moments like that.”
