MICHAEL Tidser says it’s an exciting prospect having a clean slate under new manager Ray McKinnon.

The Ton midfielder was brought to the Greenock side by then-manager James Grady in January 2010, but the Cappielow boss left the club in May in the same year, and was replaced by Allan Moore.

The then-20-year-old midfielder had his breakout campaign for the Inverclyde side, playing 38 times in the 2010-11 season, and was eventually sold to Rotherham in 2013.

With Jim Duffy leaving the club in the summer and being replaced by McKinnon, it’s not quite a step into the unknown for Tidser.

But he believes things will likely be different at Cappielow this season — and says he’s looking forward impressing his new boss.

He told the Tele: “I signed under James Grady and he left, and Allan Moore and Mark McNally came in.

“I’ve been there before when it’s happened and it’s a fresh start for everybody, and every manager has a different way of working, different ways of training and of playing.

“It’s something fresh, and I’m sure the boys who are there and the boys that come in will be itching to get going and do well.

“I’m hoping to impress the new manager at pre-season.”

Morton players were put through their paces at Parklea by McKinnon in their first pre-season training session on Thursday.

With a long summer off and holidays behind him, Tidser was keen to get back to prepare for the upcoming campaign.

He added: “I’m always looking forward to getting back playing again. I miss the day to day stuff with the boys, and obviously the football side of it as well.

“With a new manager in as well it’s something to look forward to.

“I know he’s been in the league before, he’ll come in with new ideas and he can hopefully stamp his authority early on in the club early doors and get the club where he wants it to be.”
