MORTON’S Michael Tidser says he’s enjoying life with some familiar old faces and healthy competition alongside him in midfield.
The 28-year-old played alongside Jim McAlister when he first joined the club back in January 2010, and knows Chris Millar from playing against him at St Johnstone.
Tidser opened his account for the season with a clever free-kick early in Ton’s 3-1 Betfred Cup defeat to Ayr United on Saturday, which went underneath the defensive wall and slid into the bottom corner of the net.
The central midfielder was one of a few players still under contract from last season, and says he’s enjoying playing in the centre of the park alongside some experienced heads.
He told the Tele: “I’ve been playing in the middle of a three so far. Ray McKinnon’s just trying to find out what the best formation is and to see who can adapt to what.
“It’s a role I enjoy playing and over the course of the season I hope I can help the boys as much as I can.
“I played with Jim when I first came to the club and I know him quite well. I’ve known Chris away from football as well but this is the first time I’ve got to play with him.
“With Charlie Telfer in there as well it’s all good players, and it’s what you need, you need competition in there.
“It keeps you on your toes and if you relax you might not be playing, which is always important.”
