MORTON manager Ray McKinnon is looking forward to making his home bow at Cappielow today.

The Ton boss will be in the home dugout this afternoon for the first time since taking the reins in the summer.

McKinnon says his side are beginning to go in the right direction after their improved performance against Partick Thistle on Tuesday, despite losing 2-1, and hopes Morton can start scoring more goals.

He told the Tele: “We’ve been away quite a bit and it’ll be good to play in front of the fans, and hopefully we put in another good performance.

“We’ve had two really tough away games to start the season, and we were okay for 60 minutes against Ayr. It was our first competitive game and the two goals at the end probably painted a poor reflection of the game, they were freak goals.

“On Tuesday night against Partick I thought the guys played extremely well.

“You can see them starting to gel a wee bit, to dominate the game like we did in the second half was very pleasing, but we’ve still got room for improvement.

“We do need to start hitting the back of the net, we’ve played some excellent football but we need to start converting that now into chances and goals.

“We’ve had 18 attempts on goal. We’re moving in the right direction, I’ve been saying this all along but we’re a very new team, we’re not going to instantly gel overnight.”
