WANDERERS 2nd XV won the Renfrewshire Trophy at Fort Matilda.

Birkmyre provided the opposition in an excellent competitive match, and took the lead with an early penalty.

But Wanderers struck back well with a try from Adam Boag after five minutes.

The visitors responded by pushing Wanderers over their line but the ball was held up and a goal line drop out awarded.

Play then ebbed from end to end with chances for both sides. Two quick tries by the visitors almost put them out of sight but Wanderers rallied to score through Bobby Stone.

Birkmyre responded with a further score on half- time to level the match.

Ten minutes into the second half the visitors scored under the posts, but two tries by Adam Smith for the home side took the score to 34-17.

With 15 minutes to play Birkmyre scored again but Wanderers held on for a fine win to be the first name on the trophy.
