GREENOCK Glenpark Harrier Emma Baxter set a new personal best on Saturday at the World Half-Marathon Championships under challenging conditions.
She recorded 1-28-29 in Cardiff at the prestigious 13.1-mile race, which was shown live on TV.
Emma, 24, said she was delighted with her time, particularly considering the adverse weather.
She said: “The conditions were okay until six miles, but after that we had to battle through very strong winds and really heavy rain.”
Emma added: “It was great to set a new PB for the half-marathon.”
Her previous half-marathon best time was 1-29-01 last March at Llanelli, Wales.
She is the current holder of Glenpark’s Wilson Shield for the best female half-marathon time, having won it in 2014 and 2015.
