MORTON striker George Oakley has opened up on his injury agony against Airdrie and the painful month-long road to recovery which left him unable to turn over in bed - and now he wants payback against them.

The English marksman had just netted his 14th goal in all competitions this season against Rhys McCabe's outfit back in February, before a brutal knee to the side forced him off injured against the Diamonds.

Oakley says that in the weeks that followed the most basic of tasks became agonisingly painful.  Now he’s out to make up for lost time - and admits he wants payback against the same opponents when they meet again tomorrow.

Oakley told the Tele: “It was so frustrating because I had already scored in that last game at Cappielow and I was ready to kick on. At that point I was going into every game believing I was stepping in and scoring.

"That’s not changed, but after four weeks out I know I have got to get myself back to that level. That’s body wise, mentally and getting my touch back to how I want it. It doesn’t happen as quick as you’d think. But I hope that everything clicks into place this weekend.

“It was a nasty injury, one I’d never heard of before - an oblique tear. I didn’t realise how bad it was. Even rolling over in bed hurt at one stage. Coughing, sneezing, laughing too - you don’t realise how connected these things are. It was really uncomfortable.

“I won’t say anymore about how it happened, but I hope he’s playing against us on Saturday.

"The best way to hit them back would be to score and get them where it hurts.”
