MORTON midfielder Robbie Crawford was at a loss when trying to sum up just what went wrong for his side against Airdrie as their play off hopes were left hanging by a thread.

He says that his side's disastrous start at the Excelsior gave the Cappielow side a mountain to climb even if their efforts never wavered when they were put under the cosh for long periods.

And Crawford now hopes his side can move on from their woes quickly as he targets a quick bounce back against former side Ayr United at Somerset Park.

He told the Tele: "We're annoyed with that one. The goals we conceded were really avoidable and we obviously started the game really badly, conceding twice in the opening fifteen minutes.

"It's not the way you want to be starting at all and it did just give us a mountain to climb.

"It's hard to readjust after going a goal behind so early, everything you plan for goes out the window but I don't think that the boys chucked it, we stuck at it.

"We had a couple of chances in the first half in fairness. We just couldn't take them and then when you go and concede a third it makes it that much harder.

"We just need to move on now and try to bounce back as quickly as possible, it's good we've got a game on Tuesday because it gives us a chance to make amends."
