MORTON skipper Grant Gillespie is under no illusions as to how tough tonight’s clash against Dundee United is going to be.

All the odds are stacked in the in-form Tannadice side’s favour having not played midweek, whilst Ton are heading into their third game in seven days.

But Gillespie says that doesn't mean the outcome is a foregone conclusion for the Terrors.

The experienced midfielder says his side have recovered well from Tuesday night’s draw against Ayr United and will be ready to go at 7.45pm this evening.

He told the Tele: "It’ll be tough. With Dundee United not having a midweek game, you’d expect them to be the fresher of the two sides but it doesn’t always work like that.

“Once you step onto that pitch, adrenaline and God knows what else kicks in. You might feel a bit stiff or something but you clear your mind.

“You need to get your mind right to be on the park and we’ll definitely do that.

“We’ve recovered well on Wednesday and had a light training session yesterday, so we’ll be ready to go.

“But there will be no excuses. If we don’t do well for whatever reason, that’s not going to be an excuse that you hear from us.”
