MORTON defender Darragh O'Connor has fired a warning to his team-mates that they need more points to avoid the risk of falling into the relegation play-off slot.

In the wake of their heavy defeat to Dundee United the 24-year-old has pinpointed Saturday's trip to rock bottom Arbroath as vitally important as they begin what he feels are 'three massive games' to round off the league campaign.

O'Connor, speaking to Ton TV, said: "It's going to be a battle and we are going to have stand up to that.

"If we want to stay in this league and not get dragged into the relegation play-offs then we need to pick up a positive result."

The stopper conceded that Ton did not get going against United until it was way too late in the match, giving themselves a 'mountain to climb'.

He said: "To give them a four goal head start and then start playing is not good enough.

"We got a few home truths in the dressing room at half time and full time.

"We tried to start playing after we go four down and we got a goal back, but it's a tough one to take.

"It just wasn't good enough from us."
