LEWIS Strapp says his Morton return has reignited his love for the game.

The defender came back to the club at the turn of the year after recovering from a long-term injury.

He says his second Cappielow stint had him playing the best  football of his career so far.

Strapp has had to sit out the last four games through a bout of tendonitis in his knee and while it looks unlikely he will play again this term, he says that he will never regret returning.

Now he just wants his team-mates to go on and ensure Championship safety.

He told the Tele: "Once you have a bit of time away from football, like I did through injury, you come back and appreciate things more. I think I came back at a good time.

"The mood in the group was a bit low with how things had gone, but I hadn't been a part of it so when I came in I hadn't been a part of the negatives, I could just be myself. I was just buzzing to play.

"I had something to prove coming back and I think I've played some of the best football of my career this spell back.

"It put the fire back in my belly for playing again, I hope people can see that too. It couldn't have gone much better for me.

"It'd be good to get as many points as possible and staying in the league would be massive. I've got no doubt that the boys can go ahead and do that. I'm very confident that we'll be there - but it's crunch time just now."
