MORTON striker George Oakley is poised for talks on his future - as fans keep their fingers crossed that he will sign a new deal.

Cappielow boss Dougie Imrie has made no secret of his desire to keep a hold of his 13-goal striker, who's been a pivotal cog in the Ton wheel this season.

Oakley says discussions will take place over the next couple of weeks after the side's Championship safety was secured.

He told the Tele: "I'm yet to talk about contracts and things like that yet because we never knew what the future was going to look like for the club until Saturday.

"We'll just go from there and see what happens.

"It's always pleasing though to hear that you're wanted. It's pleasing for any player because it's a very cut-throat game, football.

"You never know what's going to be around the corner, so when you get handed an offer it's a blessing, you're very grateful.

"Not only does it give you security but knowing that you're wanted is a pleasure. So hopefully in the next couple of weeks we'll see what happens."
