MORTON goalkeeper Colin Stewart insists his side have had more than enough time to gel and need to start picking up wins now.

Stewart, above, made a series of good saves to deny Raith Rovers on Saturday but couldn’t stop Allan Walker’s winning goal.

And he is adamant Ton will have to cut out the sloppy goals they are conceding to start collecting the points needed to climb the table.

He said: “We’re 11 games into the season and we need to start getting results.

“We’ve had four or five months to work on things and we should be switched on by now.

“I’ve made a couple of decent saves today, but I would’ve traded them all in to have stopped the goal.

“I actually thought I’d saved it. I gave it my best shot and got a hand to it, but it wasn’t quite enough and the ball has crept in off the post.

“We’re doing really well at limiting chances but we’ve been our own undoing by giving these slack goals away.

“There are positive signs there for us but it has to start turning now. We need to start getting draws, if not victories, starting next week.” Morton boss Allan Moore felt his side deserved more from the match. He said: “We’re bitterly disappointed as there’s no way we deserved to lose today.

“I can’t fault them for effort. I thought we put in a great shift but unfortunately we lost the first goal.

“That’s twice we’ve played them and they’ve got it, and that’s the difference between a team at the top of the league and a team at the bottom.

“I don’t think Raith are any better than us, but at the end of the day their results are proving they are.

“It’s just not gelling for us at the moment, but our players won’t be having a day off until it does and they start climbing the league.

“There are still a lot of points to be played for and if we keep giving that sort of effort, then we’ll not be far away.” Raith Rovers gaffer John McGlynn was pleased with the result.

He said: “Morton worked hard and battled their corner, so we’ve got to be delighted with an away win.”
