MORTON'S pre-season preparations move up a gear today as the squad travels to play two bounce games just hours apart.

The Cappielow club face Hibs in a midday kick-off before an entirely different starting eleven meets Airdrie United later tonight.

And Ton boss Allan Moore believes the decision to play two separate matches will better allow him to run the rule over the trialists who have been training with the club.

He said: "We play Hibs at noon today then Airdrie later on tonight, and that will let us have a closer look at some of the trialists who have been training with us.

"I've got two teams picked out to play in each game so everyone will get a chance to shine.

"That means we will have a mix of young boys, trialists and experienced pros in each team to give them the right balance.

"We'll then have a bounce match among the players on Saturday to have another look at the trialists.

"After that, we'll be cutting the squad down over the weekend so we have a smaller group to work with for the beginning of next week going into the Motherwell friendly."
