SWANSEA striker Alex Samuel is a potential loan target for Morton boss Jim Duffy, the Tele can exclusively reveal.

The Cappielow gaffer recently confirmed that he had made enquiries with contacts down south regarding the availability of players ahead of tonight’s transfer deadline.

Tele sources suggested that Welsh forward Samuel was on the club’s radar, and Duffy admitted the 19-year-old Swansea man is one of a number of striking options he was investigating.

He said: “I just wanted to totally focus on Saturday’s game at Alloa. We did that and now the next part of a manager’s job is to see if there’s a possibility of strengthening.

“Alex Samuel is someone we’ve discussed for a couple of weeks now and he’s a player I’m just trying to find out a little bit more information about to do our homework.

“He is one of the guys we’ve looked at. But it’s not just him, there are two or three other boys in the front area.

“So we’ll just wait and see where that one goes. If something does happen, it has to happen before Tuesday.” Duffy has been delighted with the tremendous team spirit and work ethic shown by his side this term and he is intent on ensuring any additions will be the right fit for his tightly knit squad.

The 56-year-old added: “Any player we do bring in in has to add something to us, but he’s also got to have the right temperament and commitment, because everybody is working hard.

“We’re not going to bring in any primadonnas or any boys who are luxury [players]. We’re playing as a team and working as a team, so whoever comes in has to fit into that team ethos.”
