GOUROCK Golf Club Ladies’ Championship final round was played, with this year’s finalists Maureen Woodhead and Margie Carmichael competing for the honour.

The spectators were treated to a great game which was played in a very competitive but friendly and sporting manner.

Maureen took an early two-hole lead after an impressive par, birdie start, but Margie managed to level the game at the fifth. Maureen then went on to take a further two holes on the front nine and was two up at the turn. Margie had a strong start to the back nine, with a birdie at the 10th and a par at the 11th to level the game yet again, but by the 15th Maureen was again two up and with a par at the 16th that was enough to see her win 3&2 and retain the Championship for her 21st time.

Thanks to John McDougall for umpiring the championship round and congratulations to both players for a game well played.
