MORTON have been warned that they will face a fierce test tomorrow when they take on in-form Falkirk.

The Bairns were defeated at Cappielow last month in the cup, inset, but they have since gone on to post three successive victories in the Championship, seeing off St Mirren, Dunfermline and Dundee United.

And Ton boss Jim Duffy believes they will return to Greenock with a spring in their step and now represent a completely different proposition as a result.

Duffy told the Tele: “Form fluctuates and I think that’s why it’s always difficult to know what you’re going to come up against.

“The last game we played them in the cup, we played very well that day and Falkirk weren’t at their best.

“But since then they’re performed very well at a very high level, particularly last week against Dundee United, they were exceptional.

“The 3-0 winning scoreline didn’t flatter them at all.

“They’re playing with huge confidence just now.

“I think the last time we played them they were a bit inconsistent but this time around, Peter will think his team are at the top of their game and that they’re back to being defensively resolute, creative in midfield and a threat up front.”

Although Duffy, pictured, is mindful that Falkirk will be difficult opponents he believes his side can more than match them — and he thinks an exciting encounter is in prospect.

He said: “It will be a different proposition from last time but we’re still playing well and still have the consistency.

“We have players who, when we play at our best, are showing that they’re more than a match for anyone else.

“I think it’ll be a terrific game.”

Morton are unbeaten in three games against Falkirk this term but Duffy insists that counts for little.

He said: “Every game now, I think you go into it determined.

“I don’t think you sit and think ‘we haven’t beaten them yet’ or anything like that.

“Sometimes if you don’t play well you might try and show people you’re a better side, and players naturally would be determined to do that.

“Falkirk have been one of the most consistent sides in the Championship for the last three years or so, so I think Peter knows his team and how well they can play.

“From Falkirk’s point of view, they’ll certainly come to Cappielow a lot more confident perhaps than they may have done a few weeks ago.”
