MORTON captain Lee Kilday says his side are ready for a fight to the finish as the Championship promotion race begins to intensify.

Ton were on the verge of a huge win away at Dundee United on Saturday after Kilday put them in front with a first half header.

But the Greenock men eventually had to settle for a point after being denied by a fortunate late leveller from the home side.

Results elsewhere meant no change at the top when the dust had settled and Kilday says he expects things to be tight right until the end of the campaign.

He said: “Falkirk drew as well so it’s all still to play for.

“Queen of the South won as well, so I think they’re back in it.

“We’ll just need to continue to take each game as it comes and do our best to finish in the play-offs.

“I think it shows that between the three teams there’s nothing much between us.

“Any day, we can all beat each other.

“It’s going to be hard going into the last few games.”

The skipper says that taking a point away from Tannadice is pleasing, despite the disappointment of conceding so late in the match.

Kilday told the Tele: “I actually think it’s a good result. If we’d been offered a draw before the game we would’ve taken it.

“It’s just the way that it happened with seven minutes to go. It was a bit disappointing — the goal they scored was a bit of a lucky one.

“I thought we defended brilliantly.

“They had one chance through Simon Murray but apart from that we defended great.

“If they score a wonder goal you think ‘okay, fair play’, but just with the type of goal it is, it’s a bit hard to deal with.

“But we’ll take the point and move on.”

Kilday was delighted to notch his fourth goal of the campaign but the 25-year-old was quick to praise the man who created it — dead ball wizard Ross Forbes.

He said: “It’s another goal for me, so I’m happy with that. It was a great ball in from Ross and I’ve just attacked it at the back-post and it’s gone in. It’s always good to get a goal, it’s a great feeling and it’s nice to help the team out.

“I’m glad to add another one.”
