MICHAEL Tidser insists Neil Lennon’s pre-match comments before Wednesday night’s clash helped motivate Morton to get a good result against Hibernian at Easter Road.
Lennon claimed that if his side could beat Ton in midweek, it would virtually guarantee the Ladbrokes Championship title for the Leith men. And Tidser says Morton were inspired to grab a result.
He told the Tele: “To go away to Hibs, there’s been a lot of talk from them that if they beat Falkirk and then beat us, they’ve won the league.
“That spurred us on a wee bit, almost like saying ‘you’re not going to turn us over’. And I think we more than matched them and were more than worthy of the point.
“It keeps us in the pack and ticking over, so after a bad result against Dunfermline, to go to Hibs and get a result makes us happy.
“With the size of Hibs and their budget, they’re stumbling over the line and you’d think they would maybe have had the league sewn up by now. But that’s credit to ourselves and the other teams round about them.”
The game will be remembered for all the wrong reasons after the stramash that ensued between both sets of players and managers just before the full-time whistle .
Tidser said: “My overriding thought at the time was that our good result would be overshadowed.”
