JIM Duffy has expressed his delight for Ross Forbes after the midfielder was shortlisted for the PFA Scotland Championship Player of the Year last week.

Forbes has been in scintillating form this season and the Morton boss reckons the playmaker thoroughly deserves his nomination.

And 58-year-old Duffy insists there could have been even more nominees for the prestigious award, highlighting how brilliant an achievement it is for Forbes to be on the ballot.

He told the Tele: “I’m absolutely thrilled for Ross. I think 12 goals and 18 assists is a magnificent return for a midfield player. He thoroughly deserves the accolades his fellow professionals have given him by being one of the nominations.

“There are some outstanding players in this division, you just need to look at the other three boys that are in there [Stephen Dobbie, Jason Cummings and John McGinn].

“But there’s another 10 who could have been in there as well quite comfortably. So for Ross to be one of those four is a fantastic tribute to his level of performance this season and I’m delighted for him.

“He’s been a great signing for us since he’s came to the club and the goals and assists, he fully merits his inclusion in that top four.”
