MORTON kid Scott Tiffoney says his time down south with English Premier League outfit Swansea City can help him become a regular at Cappielow this season.

Tiffoney, 18, and team-mate Lewis Strapp were both invited to train with Paul Clement’s club last season as the Swans weighed up a move for the promising pair.

Tiffoney insists the ‘crazy experience’ has already improved him as a player and that he can use his memories of training against tougher opposition to his advantage.

He told the Tele: “That was a different experience altogether. It’s crazy the difference of lifestyle. They have everything down there. You wouldn’t believe how big everything is.

“It was a good week down there and hopefully I can build on that experience for the season here at Morton. I feel that it has already helped me a lot.

“We went to train for the week and that was about it. We were with the under-23s so a lot of them were a lot older, maybe 21, 22 and I was only 18. But I didn’t really feel like it was all that much different from up here in terms of training.”

Strapp, 17, and Tiffoney were not alone in terms of a Scottish contingent during their week in Wales.

The Premier League side already have Scots Oli McBurnie, Stephen Kingsley, Jay Fulton and George Byers in their ranks. Tiffoney says he and Strapp were made to feel at home by their countrymen during the week.

He said: “I’ve always had to come up against bigger defenders and big players because I’m obviously not the biggest myself.

“So I’m used to it. Lewis Strapp came down with me but there were a lot of other Scottish boys down there as
well.

“They made us feel at home. It was a good week and it was nice for them to take us down to see what we were like.

“It’s not every day players from Morton can go down to train with an English Premier League team, it can only give you confidence at the end of the day. It’s nice that any potential we might have hasn’t gone unnoticed.”
